Screen Concert: Seiji Ozawa Music Academy Opera "La traviata" — Aug. 29 (Fri) at Matsumoto Performing Arts Centre!

On Aug. 29 (Fri), at the Matsumoto Performing Arts Centre, we are pleased to present the Screen Concert of Seiji Ozawa Music Academy Opera Project XXI: "La traviata" (recorded in March 2025).

The Seiji Ozawa Music Academy, founded by Seiji Ozawa in 2000, is an educational project dedicated to passing on his musical experience to the younger generation. This screening features Verdi’s timeless masterpiece "La traviata", newly staged and premiered in Kyoto and Tokyo in March 2025.

Set against the glittering backdrop of Parisian high society, "La traviata" tells the story of Violetta and the young Alfredo, a tale of love and tragic fate. Filled with some of Verdi’s most beloved arias—such as the famous “Brindisi” and “Sempre libera”—it remains one of the most dazzling masterpieces in the history of opera.

This new production brings together Music Academy Principal Conductor Diego Matheuz with the Seiji Ozawa Music Academy, a distinguished cast of singers, David Kneuss’s sincere direction, and Robert Perdziola’s exquisite sets and costumes. Experience the passion and brilliance of this acclaimed staging on the big screen.
